18 June: Early departure from Chiclayo with a field breakfast at Porculla Pass. Morning birding remnant cloud forest patches and montane scrub below the pass. Field lunch en route to Jaen where we birded in a patch of desert scrub for Little Inca-Finch before retiring to the Hotel El Bosque in Jaen. Today's birds included White-throated Hawk, Ecuadorian Ground-Dove, Spot-throated Hummingbird, Purple-collared Woodstar, Peruvian Sheartail, Line-cheeked Spinetail, Rufous-necked Foliage-Gleaner, Collared Antshrike (race shumbae), Chapman's Antshrike, Chestnut-crowned Antpitta, Elegant Crescentchest, Piura Chat-Tyrant, Three-banded Warbler, White-winged Brush-Finch, Bay-crowned Brush-Finch and Little Inca-Finch.
