North Peru 16 & 17 June 2008: Chaparri.

16 & 17 June: A full day and early morning birding the dry forest and cactus desert of Chaparri, returning to Chiclayo via Puerto Eten for the night of 17 June. Birds included White-tufted Grebe, Peruvian Booby, Guanay Cormorant, Peruvian Pelican, White-winged Guan, Peruvian Thick-knee, Peruvian Tern, Red-masked Parakeet, Peruvian Screech-Owl, Peruvian Pygmy-Owl, Tumbes Hummingbird, Short-tailed Woodstar, Scarlet-backed Woodpecker, Guayaquil Woodpecker, Necklaced Spinetail, Collared Antshrike, Elegant Crescentchest, Pacific Elaenia, Tropical Pewee (race punensis), Tumbes Tyrant, Sooty-crowned Flycatcher, Snowy-throated Kingbird, Baird's Flycatcher, Black-and-White Becard, White-tailed Jay, Plumbeous-backed Thrush, Superciliated Wren, Tumbes Sparrow, White-headed Brush-Finch, Cinereous Finch, Collared Warbling-Finch and White-edged Oriole.
